Abstract

The dramatic prevalence of paediatric obesity demands innovative, evidence-based approaches that go beyond lifestyle interventions alone. This position paper presents the rationale and framework for integrating obesity management medication (OMM) into our tertiary paediatric rehabilitation care, with a particular focus on Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs). Drawing on the latest high-quality meta-analyses, real-world data, and clinical observations, we explore the efficacy, safety, metabolic, functional and quality of life implications of pharmacologic therapy. We advocate for an equitable access to the medications within specialized centres.
